Vote the Rock.

Lizzie and I each got a gift card to the iTunes store for Christmas this last year. We are pretty excited to grow our rather limited library of legal music but we aren't all that savvy when it comes to new bands and such. We want to know what artists and songs you find indispensable.

If you were given an iTunes card, what would you buy?

I also love Nickel Creek. A favorite is The Smoothie Song.
I like Iron and Wine: Endless Numbered Days and Woman King albums
Can't go wrong with Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline or Coming to America.
Some good crooners like Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Michael Buble, or Harry Connick Jr. make for fun impromptu dances in the kitchen.
Sam and I also like most anything from Guster.
And when I need to bust a move, I like You Rock My World by Michael Jackson, and No Diggity by Blackstreet.
Oh-- and if you like jazz, Take Five by Dave Brubeck is a must

So hard b/c we are such music lovers!

Jacob recommends: M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent (he's currently OBSESSED with M. Ward!)
Arcade Fire - Funeral.

Tysha recommends: Feist (nice and chill w/ a little jazzy components), Leona Naess (British songstress, quite chill) , The Bird & The Bee (electronic pop fun fun fun), Rodrigo y Gabriela (AMAZING guitarists originally from Mexico, now living in Ireland), and Ceu (Brazilian).

Wow. I am very reminded that I am far from cool when it comes to music. I look forward to checking out all of these groups.

Keep it coming.

Sarah loves running to Daughtry. I would recommend him as well. For more chill music I really like Tyrone Wells and Kalai. If Simon still likes.... hmph! I can't remember who he always loved listening too! "Don't know why you didn't call..." Anyway, I think he'll like Tyrone Wells and Kalai, and I'm pretty sure you two will too!

Ben Folds (as in Ben Folds Five but, he's solo now...), Jump Little Children (look them up under "Jump" or the lead singer's name), Old 97's, some Radiohead is good, Beck, Regina Spector, "for the kids" (albums of kids songs done by cool artists), Guster, oh, there are SO many good artists!! I can't think of all of them but, I have the second the Nickle Creek comment. They are pretty cool.
Happy iTunes purchasing!

Wow, you've got quite the list already! Conan's always checking out groovy new stuff, and some of my new favorites are Brandi Carlisle, and the Waifs. And Patti Griffin and Missy Higgins. Although I just checked, and you can't actually get the waifs from the iTunes store. So scratch that. They are a cool little Australian band though. I have to second the Black Horse and the Cherry Tree pick, though. And, Eric, I guess I'm lame too, cuz I also like Matchbox 20.

Isn't it amazing how much you can learn about a person just by listening to the kind of music they like? So interesting...

I agree with Jodie. This was a really fun question to ask. We are really enjoying listening to all the suggestions and trying (the key word) to figure out what we want to actually buy. So far all we have committed to is the KT Tunstall albumn.

Also, I don't know why Eric should feel foolish for liking Matchbox 20. They are a great band. White Snake on the other hand...
